As a robotics team we have accomplished so much this past week together. We finished building the entire field and would like to extend our upmost gratitude to all the spectacular parents and mentors that support their local robotics team. In addition, we began prototyping a base and manipulator design for this year’s game, STRONGHOLD. The prototype for manipulator includes a collector with arms that extend on past the bumper with an axle crossing the middle that spins to collect the ball, and a shooter system with a similar design to that of a ballista which will transfer elastic potential energy into kinetic energy on the ball. Both parts of the manipulator have been successful in achieving their task. The base team developed a wheel based prototype and tread based prototype so we can better decide which method would work best for this game. The programming team has also been busy working with our programming mentor to investigate Command based programming. In addition they have been working on the first three of several autonomous modes that will be used at the competition. Chairman’s writing is also in progress and the team is on schedule to finish the first draft of the essay this Saturday. Everything is looking up for team Pearadox. Hopefully this fantastic progress and wonderful parent support will continue throughout the season. Thanks everyone for the effort so far. Until next week!
Lastly, one of our students is working on creating weekly video updates on some of our progress. Most of this video is from our first weekend, we hope to upload these in a more timely manner in the future! -https://youtu.be/oCZG6DZszG4
